Kimchi

Kimchi is my first Border Collie. After San’s success, I searched long and hard for a worthy successor. I came to realise that I was not going to find that within the Australian Shepherd breed, at least not easily.

So I decided to go for something completely different: a Border Collie (and a smooth coated one at that)!

Hot and spicy 🌶️

Kimchi is named after one of my favourite Korean side dishes! I’d had the name as an option for my next dog for a while, but I didn’t want to commit to it as it really had to fit the dog. Plus, in Dutch the term for spicy can also be translated into “tough” or “challenging”, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to invoke anything negative like that. 😅

However, we soon realised that Kimchi was, and is, the perfect name for her. 🌶️ I wouldn’t call her particularly challenging, but she’s definitely spicy and full of zest!

Her pedigree name is a reference to her sire Xii and symbolises my excitement in trying something completely new!

Thoughtful in drive

It’s a little early to say for sure, but so far Kimchi’s shown she’s great at thinking games. She’s definitely more motion sensitive than my Aussies (which is to be expected), but I’m starting to see a version that’s thoughtful in drive.

I’m so excited for our agility journey. She’s going to be so much fun!
